The 2025 National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Awards are making waves, with over 60,000 small business owners across Nigeria already registered. This overwhelming response, since the portal opened on March 7, proves just how eager entrepreneurs are to gain recognition, support, and life-changing opportunities.

For many business owners, this award is not just about prestige—it’s a chance to propel their businesses forward. “Running a small business in Nigeria comes with many challenges,” says Fatima Yusuf, a leather goods entrepreneur from Kano. “Being part of this award could open doors to funding, mentorship, and even new customers.”

According to Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on MSMEs and Job Creation, the agriculture sector leads in applications, followed by businesses in tech, fashion, beauty, manufacturing, and the creative industry. This diversity reflects the dynamic nature of Nigeria’s small business ecosystem.

What’s at Stake?

Winning an MSME Award isn’t just about getting a trophy—it comes with real, tangible benefits. Past winners have received houses, cars, and fully equipped shops, giving their businesses a much-needed boost.

This year, the award categories include Agriculture, Creative Arts, Fashion, Manufacturing, Woodworks, Tech & Innovation, Beauty & Cosmetics, and a newly introduced category for Persons Living with Disabilities. This addition highlights the government’s commitment to inclusive entrepreneurship.

Beyond the prizes, winners also gain national visibility, which can lead to partnerships, investor interest, and expanded customer bases. For small businesses looking to scale, this is an opportunity worth grabbing.

Time is Running Out!

With the application deadline set for April 7, there’s still time for eligible entrepreneurs to register and put their businesses in the spotlight. The process is simple, and applications can be submitted through the official MSME Clinics portal. Click Here to apply.

With over 60,000 entrepreneurs already in the race, competition is fierce. But as every business owner knows, taking bold steps leads to big rewards. Will you take the leap?
