FS4Africa, a Horizon Europe–funded initiative announced its first Open Call, offering a total pool of €600,000 to support groundbreaking, homegrown solutions aimed at improving food safety across the continent.
African food systems, particularly the informal sector, face persistent challenges—from mycotoxins and pesticide residues to microbial contamination and food adulteration. These issues not only threaten public health but also impair local markets, cross-border trade, and agricultural sustainability. FS4Africa aims to drive a transformative shift by nurturing local solutions that enhance traceability, safety, and governance in food value chains.
