9mobile rebrands as T2
Telecom operator 9mobile has officially changed its name to T2

Telecom company 9mobile has rebranded as T2, positioning itself as a youth-focused, innovation-centered digital lifestyle brand that aims to drive Nigeria’s digital economy forward.

CEO Obafemi Banigbe described the Friday Lagos launch as more than cosmetic changes. “This marks a new chapter in our story. We’re evolving into something more ambitious and future-oriented,” he stated.

The rebrand aims to make 9mobile a customer-focused, tech-enabled, and digitally responsive brand. “We’re becoming a platform for opportunities, connecting aspirations, and supporting Nigeria’s startup ecosystem, creatives, and remote workers,” Banigbe explained.

He said the new identity mirrors Nigeria’s dynamic young population. “Nigerians want speed, access, relevance, and creativity. That’s why we’re adopting a digital-first strategy, leaner, faster, and smarter customer service,” he noted.

The company is transitioning to an innovation-based, data-driven business model. Banigbe said 9mobile is becoming a fully digital, cloud-native operator with API integration and data analytics capabilities, enabling faster product launches and AI-powered personalized services.

“Today’s winners aren’t the largest companies but the most daring. We’re building systems that provide customers real-time support, self-service options, and streamlined processes through mobile devices,” he said.

Addressing past challenges, Banigbe acknowledged previous difficulties. “We’ve faced setbacks and struggles, but like Nigeria, we emerge stronger. Our challenges demonstrate resilience, not failure,” he remarked.

The CEO emphasized that the rebrand focuses on substance over appearance. “This isn’t just cosmetic; we’re committed to winning. Customer experience becomes our core business, not just a department,” he said, highlighting local relevance, simplicity, and emotional connection as key priorities.

Banigbe told customers, “We aim to serve you with boldness, clarity, speed, and genuine passion. Thank you for keeping us accountable; that’s our purpose.”

He thanked partners, regulators, shareholders, and staff for their support, adding, “To every Nigerian seeking improvement, this rebrand represents you. It shows that reimagining, rebuilding, and relaunching are possible.”
