In a strategic move to address Nigeria’s pervasive power challenge, solar energy company Aemi Premium has announced a partnership with Wema Bank and Providus Bank to scale access to reliable, affordable solar power solutions across homes and small businesses in Nigeria.

The initiative unveiled at Aemi Premium’s launch event in Lagos showcased the company’s line of AMP Solar products, including branded solar panels, inverters, lithium-ion batteries (with up to 10-year warranty), energy-efficient appliances, security cameras and smart-home locks.

Tackling Nigeria’s Energy Deficit

Aemi Premium’s CEO, Samuel Williams, emphasised the urgency of the mission: “More than 92 million of our people still do not have access to guaranteed power. Even those who do must depend on costly, noisy, and polluting generators.”

He added that the company is poised “at the dawn of a new era powered by innovation, sustainability, and partnership,” committed to delivering clean, reliable and affordable solar energy.

Beyond simply replacing generators, the venture puts focus on environmental benefits and job creation with local installation, servicing and distribution creating fresh opportunities for technicians and micro-enterprises.

Financing the Transition with Banks

Key to the rollout is the banking support from Providus Bank and Wema Bank. Onetoritsebawo Adejumo, Relationship Manager at Providus Bank, explained that the bank’s low-interest financing schemes will ensure that small businesses and SMEs are not excluded due to capital constraints. “This is one of the ways we power businesses to grow,” she noted.

With Wema Bank’s involvement, the partnership positions to bridge the financing gap that often hinders uptake of clean energy solutions—making solar systems more accessible to a wider cross-section of homes and MSMEs.

Localised Manufacturing, Global Standards

Aemi Premium, which already has successful operations in The Gambia, said it intends to replicate this model in Nigeria manufacturing products locally but adhering to European engineering standards to suit Nigerian environments. Through this approach, the company aims to push clean energy access to scale nationwide, enabling households and entrepreneurs to swap fuel-based generators for cleaner, quieter and cheaper solar systems.

This partnership between Aemi Premium, Wema Bank and Providus Bank marks a timely and impactful step in Nigeria’s energy transition. By marrying clean-energy technology with accessible financing, it offers a credible path for households and small businesses to move off high-cost, polluting generators and onto sustainable power. For SmartPreneur readers, it represents both a tangible cost-saving opportunity and a model for clean-tech entrepreneurship to watch closely
