Tech entrepreneur, Fahim Saleh, who is the CEO of Gokada, a former bike-hailing app now into logistics, has been found dead and dismembered in his apartment in New York, United States.
Saleh’s body was found headless and dismembered on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, inside his luxury Lower East Side apartment which he reportedly bought $2m in 2019.
The body of the 33-year-old was discovered by his sister who became worried after not hearing from him in a day.
After being called to the gruesome scene in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, police said they have surveillance footage of the suspect entering the building and then using the elevator.
The footage is said to show the suspected murderer wearing a glove and a mask, carrying a bag as he follows Mr Saleh into the lift and attacks him as the lift goes up to the seventh floor.
Police, reports say, believe the murder was carried out by a professional killer because of how the attack happened.
“We have a torso, a head that’s been removed, arms, and legs. Everything is still on the scene. We don’t have a motive,” New York Police Department spokesman Sgt. Carlos Nieves said.
Born in Saudi Arabia, Mr Saleh, the son of Bangladeshi-American immigrants founded and invested in several transportation-related start-ups.
Saleh is well known in Lagos, Nigeria where he helped launch Gokada, the former bike hailing company that has turned into delivery services following the government’s ban on passenger motorcycles.
Saleh started Gokada in Lagos state, Nigeria, in 2018 and raised $5.3 million in venture capital in June 2019.
