Stress is a state of mental or emotional tension or pressure resulting from adverse or demanding circumstances. Different people put their effort into different things. Each person has needs, goals and objectives. Striving to accomplish your goals or to meet that deadline that could determine whether or not you’ll have a roof over your head in the coming days, can stress out you.

However, there are ways that can help you manage stress so you stay productive.

Here are ways to help you effectively relieve or prevent stress.

Allow someone else handle it

Sometimes you take on too much, trying to make everything perfect and you believe that no one else can do the work as well as you can. Inability to delegate or outsource and the need to micromanage are both paths to increased stress.

You can look for little, one-time tasks or projects you can hand off to others atleast just once.

Think of that one thing that would be helpful to take off of your plate and won’t really matter if someone else doesn’t do it exactly the way you would. Delegating effectively is about giving others an initial leeway to fail and learn from their failures before getting it right.

A break won’t hurt

It is understandable that your work or business is your baby and you just want to keep going, pushing harder.

All work and no play does what? Exactly. Same applies here.

You need breathers in order to focus effectively. The most productive thing you can do is step away from your work to recharge and refuel. Hang out with folks, meditate, read or watch something not related to work or simply do nothing.

However you approach it, the key is to take time to sharpen your mind when you feel it getting dull,  stressed and overworked.

Change your work routine

You don’t have to wait till you burnout before you start worrying about how to handle things. You can prevent being overworked and stressed by regularly infusing activities into your work schedule. Incorporate things that you can use to unplug frequently. Make it part of your work culture.

Pay attention to your mind and mental health. It is important.

Eat Right

Do not underestimate the importance of  a healthy diet in battling stress. Watch what you consume and your mind and body will thank you. Lots of added sugar and fat will not help you. Get in the habit of reading food labels as well.

According to WebMD, scientists have pinpointed some nutrients that seem to help lessen the effects of stress on the body and mind. They are vitamin C, magnesium and Omega-3 fatty acids. Vitamin C can be found in peppers, potatoes, Oranges, Guavas, etc. Magnesium is found in avocados, dark chocolate, beans, soybeans, nuts, bananas, etc while Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in walnuts,  mackerel, sardines, shrimp, etc.

It is also very important to see your doctor.
