International Breweries Plc (IBPLC), through its International Breweries Foundation, has unveiled the 2025 edition of the Kickstart Enterprise Programme, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable economic development in Nigeria. Now in its 10th year, the initiative continues to invest in young entrepreneurs, providing them with the tools, funding, and mentorship needed to build successful businesses and drive job creation.
The Kickstart Initiative is a corporate social investment (CSI) programme designed for Nigerian youths aged 18 to 35 years. Since its inception in 2016, the programme has expanded from the Southwest and Southeast regions to a nationwide intervention, open to young entrepreneurs across all six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
How Kickstart Empowers Young Entrepreneurs
The programme focuses on identifying, training, and funding high-potential youth-led businesses in key sectors, including:
- Agriculture (Rice, Maize, and Sorghum Farming)
- Retailing (Retail of International Breweries Products)
- Circular Packaging
- Renewable Energy
- Other viable micro and small-scale enterprises
Selected participants benefit from:
- Business training (in partnership with Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University)
- Seed capital grants
- Post-investment support (mentoring and coaching)
- Access to an alumni network for continued growth
Dr. Peter Bamkole, Chairman of the International Breweries Foundation Advisory Board, emphasized the programme’s role in fostering economic growth.“ We believe Nigeria’s economic transformation lies with its young entrepreneurs. Kickstart has consistently reduced unemployment by empowering youths with the skills, networks, and funding needed to succeed,” he said. Temitope Oguntokun, Corporate Affairs and Regulatory Director at IBPLC, added: “Over the years, we’ve seen beneficiaries grow from startups to employers of labour. As we mark our 10th anniversary, we’re excited to support the next generation of innovators.”
