Smartpreneur’s Olayinka Oladokun (O) had an insightful chat with Ayodeji Faleto (A) to share how his own entrepreneurship journey began.

Here are excerpts:

O: How did it all start?

A: Well, it started when I helped a friend of mine correct his CV for an interview, and after the interview, he got the job. He briefed and told me he got the job because the interviewer said his CV made him stand out. He suggested I take it up as a career and that’s how my business popped. This happened in 2017 in Enugu, six months to my service year.

O: How were you able to get people to know your brand?

A: I actually made use of UYC(use your contact) and I sent out broadcast to my WhatsApp status and groups. People started liking what I sent and even joined the group I created for classes. I invited MD and HR’s to teach basics for free course . After that I suggested they pay for the upgraded course and the turn out was massive.

O: Were you engaged at the time by anything?

A: Oh yes! I had a 9-5 job at the time but I still decided to venture into a side business that’s beneficial, worthwhile and monetary.

O: Why the choice of brand name?

A: Basically, everything that entails what a business/career need is provided in the company. From Cv to finance experience, skills etc. So the name depicts that we offer the best solutions to your career and business.

O: What’s the brand known for?

A: They help with Personal Development Trainings, Recruitment Process Outsourcing, Employee Engagement, Project Writing, Personal & Corporate Branding (CV, Cover Letter Upgrade, LinkedIn Profile Optimization, Interview Support, Company Profile, Introduction Letters, and Business Plan & Proposal Writing Services), Careers and Employability Masterclasses (including Placement Schemes, Software Trainings and Career Fairs), and Study Abroad Advisory Services.

O: Was there any challenge when you had your business?

A: There are challenges everywhere. When the business launched, remember I still had my job. And so, It was really tasking and I had to employ other hands. We were a team of 6 but now 7.

O: How many years is the business now and the growth.

A: Careers and business everything has lasted about 4 years now and had since then won more than 3 awards, and had over 1000 clients. We now have paid classes, free jobs, skills acquisition and a great tan standby to deliver good work. We plan on maximizing and expanding more. We aren’t ending here.

O: What advice would you give any aspiring entrepreneur?

A: Well, consistency is key. Learn more. You aren’t an island of knowledge; ask questions and advice. There’s no overnight success, you have to work really hard. Don’t be out for the accolades. And lastly, do your best, no matter how small.
