Dangote Refinery has cut the petrol price to ₦840 per litre, offering a major relief to Nigerians. Previously, petrol was selling for as high as ₦1,200 per litre. This price cut is linked to the recent drop in global oil prices. Now, petrol marketers can buy from Dangote at rates between ₦835 and ₦850 per litre.

A Welcome Boost for Small Businesses

For small businesses, this price change announced by Dangote Refinery could not have come at a better time. Many entrepreneurs have faced tough challenges due to rising transport and production costs. However, with this new price, there is hope that business expenses will drop.

The price cut may directly reduce the cost of transporting goods. As a result, prices of products and services may also go down. This could bring some stability for traders, delivery services, and local producers.

How Global Oil Prices Influence Local Markets

The drop in global crude oil prices made this reduction possible. Dangote Refinery quickly adjusted its prices to reflect the international market. By responding fast, the refinery is helping to lower fuel prices nationwide.

Additionally, the refinery’s local presence is making a difference. In the past, Nigeria depended heavily on imported fuel. But now, local supply from Dangote is starting to shape prices and bring competition.

Experts Expect Wider Impact

Experts believe this price drop can slow down inflation. Lower fuel prices mean reduced costs across many sectors. This can make life easier for businesses and everyday people. Transporters, food sellers, and market traders may all benefit. For small and medium-sized businesses, cheaper fuel means they can move goods at lower prices and possibly increase profit margins.

Still, experts say that more refineries need to follow Dangote’s lead. If they do, the entire economy could feel long-term relief. In the meantime, this price drop is a step in the right direction.

For entrepreneurs, this is a time to watch the market closely. Cheaper petrol may open up new opportunities for growth and expansion.
