SMEDAN Launches Unit for Women, Youth Empowerment

Mrs. Uju Kenedy-Ohaneye, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, inaugurated a dedicated unit at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to champion women and youth entrepreneurship. In a statement by her media aide, Ohaeri Joseph, the minister commended SMEDAN’s commitment to incorporating women and youths into empowerment initiatives, aligning with the current administration’s focus on revitalizing economic prospects.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the advanced tools at the facility, indicating the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with SMEDAN for inclusive growth and women’s empowerment. Additionally, she announced the ministry’s plan to integrate SMEDAN into its e-portal, creating a one-stop-shop to facilitate marketing and enhance commercial activities between women entrepreneurs and end-users.

Mr. Charles Odii, the Director General of SMEDAN, emphasized the importance of the common desk for women and youth empowerment, underlining the agency’s commitment to addressing demographic challenges. The newly established desk will focus on facilitating capital, training, and market access.
