Nigerian restaurant brand Sooyah Bistro has given over ₦500,000 to budding entrepreneurs through its Sooyah Dreams initiative, highlighting how local brands are increasingly backing small business growth. The program, which took place between 1 and 15 September 2025, asked Nigerians to share video pitches about their business ambitions, with winners announced at a ceremony in Oniru, Lagos.

Victoria Orleans took the top prize, walking away with ₦250,000 for her poultry business and education project supporting special needs and disadvantaged children. Runner-up Nwokolo Blessing, a private chef focused on culinary innovation, secured ₦150,000. Other entrants received consolation awards and gift packs worth ₦100,000.

The founder of Sooyah Bistro explained that the campaign drew from her own experience as an entrepreneur and the conviction that emerging ideas require real support. She framed Sooyah Dreams not just as financial aid, but as “permission to dream bigger, louder, and without fear.”

For winners like Victoria and Blessing, the funding offers both money and confidence in a landscape where young business owners often face serious funding challenges. Orleans described the prize as making her long-term plans “suddenly possible”, whilst Blessing noted how one significant push can move a small business from merely surviving to actually growing.

Through direct investment in young entrepreneurs, Sooyah Bistro is part of a rising number of Nigerian brands providing focused funding outside the usual grant and loan structures. The campaign’s focus on personal stories and drive reflects a wider pattern where consumer-facing companies are acting as early supporters of future small and medium enterprises.

The event closed with Sooyah Bistro committing to continue programs that link business development with community benefit, offering a lifeline to aspiring business owners frequently ignored by mainstream financial bodies.
