Saving can be easier when you discover how you can put your money to better use. If you think about it, there are some things that we can do without in our lives, we don’t necessarily have to have them.

We can also learn how to carry out some tasks on our own with useful DIY hacks.

The tips listed below will help you save money in the long run.

1. Prepare your own meals

This will save you a lot of money. Once you start doing this, you’ll see a significant change in your spending.

Cook and package your food to work or to school instead of spending more to buy fast food.

2. Host Visitors or Parties Wisely

First off, if you are trying to save more, you have no business hosting parties at your place or any where else. If you must, tell everyone to come with their own food, snacks and drinks so that the burden of treating your guests to all kinds of meals and refreshments will not be on you.

Same goes for visitors except they don’t mind drinking just a chilled glass of water when they visit.

3. Consume less alcohol

Alcohol is one of the easiest ways to blow a lot of money in one go. Consuming less or no alcohol will help you save more.

This is a no judgement zone but when it comes to saving money, you might want to reduce your drinking. A drink now and then is fine but do you really have to drink all the time?

If you stopped drinking for a month, you’d be amazed how much you’d save. Give this a try and thank us later!

4. Manage power

In much simpler terms, switch off your lights and appliances when you’re not using them.

This will reduce your electricity bill. You don’t need to suffer, living in total darkness with candles, that’s extreme, but switching off your lights and appliances when you’re not using them can reduce your bill.

Be more conscious about your electricity usage, and you’ll notice that your electricity bill will come down when you do.

5. Attend free events

Always look out for free entry social events. You don’t have to burn a hole in your pocket for a social life.

6. Try thrift stores

No, you don’t have to pay more than N5000 for that new outfit. Get it for less instead from an online thrift store or go to a nearby local market.

Many people don’t rate buying used fashion items but you can find really nice and super affordable clothes and save a lot of cash.

No one will know they’re cheap especially if you wash and iron them properly. Allow your personality and confidence shine through!

7. DIY your car repair

One of the easiest ways for money to leave your account is by spending on car repair.

Go online and see how you can fix your car or try to understand the problem so you know what will be needed by a mechanic and how to negotiate cost of repair.

8. Braid or Cut your Hair Yourself

Ladies make your hair yourselves, guys do the same, cut your hair at home and save some some money!
