FirstBank Nigeria and Microsoft4Afrika recently teamed up to help small and medium enterprises across the country embrace digital transformation, boost productivity, and grow stronger.
First, this powerful partnership officially launched on Friday, January 18, 2019, during a complimentary event tailored specifically for SMEs. The goal? To encourage technology adoption and enhance digital skills throughout the business community.
Moreover, the venture builds on a Memorandum of Understanding FirstBank and Microsoft4Afrika signed in June 2018, with the explicit aim of offering non-financial support such as access to digital tools and tailored services designed to foster SME growth.
In addition, FirstBank’s head of customer experience and value management described this initiative as a milestone in the bank’s century-plus commitment to supporting entrepreneurs. She explained that, for the first time, SMEs can now purchase Microsoft products at discounted rates in naira, making impactful tech tools more affordable and accessible than ever before.

Furthermore, Microsoft4Afrika’s regional director (who delivered the keynote at the launch) emphasized that technology integration is no longer optional for SMEs, it’s essential for survival and growth. As she noted, digital tools can help businesses reach new markets, improve productivity, deliver better customer service, and respond swiftly to changing market conditions.
Additionally, Microsoft4Afrika isn’t just stopping with one country. Across the continent, they’re forging similar collaborations with banks, telecoms, and other stakeholders to deliver digital skills and tools to more SMEs, ultimately strengthening Africa’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.
Also, participants at the launch event gained access to valuable skills development resources, business networks, and an educational platform. These resources are designed to help them not just adopt, but integrate technology effectively into their daily operations.
