Singer Akon has been in the news for weeks due to his stance on wealth and poverty.
Some have criticised the Senegalese-American singer for saying the rich have more problems than the poor. He was also accused of not knowing what it means to be poor but he addressed this saying:
“Nobody can sit there and tell me, that I didn’t go through poverty. I was the young African kid, barefoot and playing soccer in the village with no electricity, no running water.
Akon in an interview with TMZ, on Monday revealed that he was actually happier when he was poor adding that being successful comes with a lot of problems.
“I’m having more problems successfully dealing with all that comes with success than I had when I was poor. I was actually happier when I was poor.”…The famous and the rich go through more issues than the poor. You know when they say ‘more money, more problems,’ that’s a real thing.”
