An engineering degree holder, Akinbo started his career during his national service in securities regulation at the Office of the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria. He then moved back to the UK to work for Nitro Ventures; a venture capital company, working closely with one of their investments; Nitro Digital for 3 years.
Returning to Nigeria, Akinbo joined Ponglomerape Holdings, Nigeria’s fourth largest fertiliser company, as Director of Operations. During his 5 years at Ponglomerape, Akinbo conceptualised and rolled out its bulk-bagging subsidiary, which became the first indigenous shipside bagging company for bulk shipments in Nigeria.
Today, Akinbo runs Kawai Technologies Ltd with two other business units; Technology Services, and Supply Chain Procurement both of which deal with an array of blue-chip Nigerian firms and international players operating in-country.
Akinbo is also regular participant in the start-up/ventures ecosystem, lending his knowledge and support to companies like Chaka.ng, PaddyCover, Verto, Loop Africa and several other budding firms.
