You might have mapped out plans to boost your sales and revenue, acquire new customers and retain existing ones, partnerships, etc. Without a doubt, it is brilliant to plan and strategize for the year ahead but strategies are effective with the right habits.

This article walks you through 5 habits that you should drop as you step into 2023 in order to achieve high performance results in your business.

1. Focusing on tasks with small output/value

In 2023, do not waste your precious time on activities that yield the smallest results. These tasks are in most cases time consuming but contribute very little to your short or long-term goals. Since these deliverables have to be attended to regardless, you can delegate if you can so that you can focus on the more critical actions that will provide significant incremental value.

If you are having a hard time trying to identify what the essential high output tasks are, one question to ask yourself is: How much does this particular activity contribute to my set goals? If the answer is not encouraging, it simply means that you should not prioritize such activity.

Successful entrepreneurs have a clear idea of the tasks that are actually important and those that can be done after completing them.

If you are in the habit of working on the things that do not really matter, now is the time to rethink and work smarter.

2. No time for yourself

What makes a business really? Well, it is you, the entrepreneur and your customers which means that if you take care of yourself, you take care of your business and if you do not, your venture suffers. You would not miss out on anything if you decide to take breaks throughout the day; do something outside of work, refresh and return fully energized. Develop the habit of taking breaks.

Breaks should be your ‘Me Time’ when you get to engage in an activity that helps you relax or reflect. It ensures that you prioritize yourself; a trait of a healthy entrepreneurship lifestyle.

3. Not Curious

Curiosity paves the way for innovation and strategic thinking. To develop curiosity as a habit, you should experiment or try new things because you cannot tell when and how any unique experience would influence or inspire you. Read books with quality content, travel, meet with new people and expand your reality

4. The habit of not tracking progress

How can you grow and improve on what you already know? It is basically by tracking your progress. Document your milestones and all the work you did to attain them. There are lessons to be learned when you monitor your business, what has worked, is working and and what is not.

Apart from business success metrics, keep track of your ideas, thoughts and dreams so that you can stay grgrounded.

5. Not checking your health

The mind and body work in tandem. To be a sound business owner you should develop the habit of feeding your body with healthy meals. Your diet matters so are physical eexercises! These elements contribute to your mental wellbeing and mind.

Having a good rest also positively adds to your health as an entrepreneur. Do not neglect yourslef and your health as you go about your daily business activities.

To wrap up

Since certain routines and personal lifestyle choices can get in the way of achieving goals, business owners should never overlook some habits. While planning for the new year, they should take cognizance of their habits and change where necessary as these habits could have direct and indirect effects on their businesses.
