In a Smartpreneur interview, Williams Fatayo, the founder of TruQ, shared insights into the journey of building a successful startup from the ground up and validating a problem which eventually blossomed into a thriving business, fueled by determination, passion, and a relentless pursuit of solutions.
Bootstrapping for Validation:
Fatayo candidly revealed that in the early stages, raising capital wasn’t the primary focus. Instead, the founding team prioritized validating the problem they aimed to solve. For over a year, they poured their own funds into the company, demonstrating unwavering commitment and belief in their vision. This hands-on approach not only provided crucial initial traction but also laid the foundation for future growth.
He said: “we were putting money into the bank account of the business to get it going and that was super helpful in the sense that we were able to take from our salaries to fund the initial traction and validation that we needed and off the back of that we were able to raise our first check and it’s been upward from there.”

Their approach is characterized by a willingness to push boundaries, challenge the status quo, and embrace uncertainty. This culture of resilience and adaptability enables TruQ to navigate uncharted territory with confidence, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth.
Looking Ahead:
As TruQ continues to chart its course forward, Fatayo remains steadfast in his commitment to driving positive change and shaping the future of logistics.
