Nigerian entrepreneur and founder of Flying Doctors Healthcare Investment Company, Dr Ola Brown, has designed special COVID-19 testing booths to ramp up more testing, save cost, and protect frontline officers from the virus.
With her experience in healthcare and entrepreneurship, Dr Brown says the special walk-in COVID-19 testing booth will save many lives and help reduce the spread of the virus.
In a post on Twitter, she shared a photo of the testing booth. She tweeted, “They (Booths) expand access to testing while reducing the risk to healthcare workers.”
A typical protective gear costs N50,000, Dr Brown says the phone booth-style virus testing facilities will keep frontline health workers safe while significantly cutting down on the need for single-use PPE.
Wondering how this testing booth works, she says a healthcare worker will put his/her hand into the gloves and takes samples, never coming into direct contact with the patient. The gloves are sprayed down from a distance by a hygienist after every sample is taken. This drastically reduces risk.

She isn’t only working as a frontline doctor fighting against this virus; she is also concerned about her fellow health workers. From all her works, the idea of solution is constant.
Just as Dr Brown’s innovation will help the government increase test rates, it could also mean more money as private hospitals and clinics could find it useful and help attend to some of their patient who may have COVID-19 related symptoms.
