This development is coming after Elon Musk recently completed his takeover of Twitter, and stated that the ‘whole verification process was going to be revamped’ but did not give details on it.

According to reports, Twitter accounts that already have the verification will have to comply with this new mechanism and pay up for the blue badge within 90 days.

Musk, informed ‘all complainers to continue with their complaints but there wasn’t anyway of they were going to escape paying $8.

The 51-year-old billionaire tweeted: “To all complainers, please continue complaining, but it will cost $8.”

Further revealing where he got the inspiration for the proposed charge on the Twitter verified handles,   Musk added: “Totally stole idea of charging for insults & arguments from Monty Python tbh.”

The blue check mark on Twitter is used to verify the authenticity of an account, and can commonly be seen on the Twitter handles of notable personalities like entrepreneurs, influencers, corporate executives, celebrities and other persons of public interest.
