There’s nothing fun about being underpaid, as soon as your salary comes in it’s being spent because of the countless bills you have to pay and things you have to deal with.

This was literally me at my job, after several complaints of being underpaid and nobody taking me seriously I decided to take the money they weren’t giving me forcefully, in the best way that I could, and here’s the story.

My colleagues and I all had the same issue of dissatisfaction with the type of food available to us around our place of work. meals were either too expensive or they were untasty and unappealing. We would all complain about it but somehow still found ourselves still eating it because we had no choice and just like that an idea was born, You know how in cartoons when they get a brilliant idea, a lightbulb appears on top of their heads? that’s exactly how it was for me, I knew exactly what I was going to do next and how to get the money I deserved from work.

The following week I resumed with ten plates of food and announced that I was selling them at a flat rate of a thousand naira, I even made a menu and sent it to each of them, the menu included meals like roasted plantain and fish sauce, Jollof macaroni and egg,  fried rice and chicken, Moi-Moi and oatmeal available on different days of the week, I made sure the meals were spontaneous and not repetitive.

The first day was a success, although a few of my colleagues were reluctant to buy at first the testimonies from the others influenced them. Throughout that day, I received a whole lot of compliments from everyone on how great the food was, I sold a total of ten plates that day out of the fifteen I brought to work and I was so happy.

The next day was even better I sold everything I had brought and before you know it the whole building had heard of my meals and were willing to buy them, orders for food had increased within a month and so I had to get a cook to assist me with the cooking. Because I had help I decided to expand majorly, I created a business page and let everyone who knew me know about my meals, and before you know it I was taking about seventy orders daily.

I felt so useful,it was the best decision I had ever made and no sooner than later I started to supply breakfast and lunch to several offices around Lagos and the clientele continues to grow.

Can I also add that I cooked my way into getting a raise at work, isn’t God good?
