The month of March is coming to an end. It’s important to reflect on what we have achieved and then set ourselves up for success for the coming month of April.

During the month it’s easy to focus on getting the job done or making the sales without paying attention to your workspace. Having a tidy workspace can help to cultivate a tidy and focused mind so you have to take some time to clear out the clutter and put all the rarely used items to the side. To refresh your mind, you could buy something nice for your workspace or office every month to make it more appealing. This could be some new plants, a desk organiser or whatever you please.

Write down all the ‘wins’ you had in the month. This could be a great testimonial or review about your business, referrals, more followers on your business page, etc.
Do not focus on your highs and cancel your lows or negative things that happened in the month. Take some time to ask yourself ‘why’ you didn’t achieve some things? Then create room for improvement in the following month. See this as a challenge. Write this down and come back to it in a month when you are doing your next reflection and see if you achieved it.

It’s advisable to make yourself accountable to someone else to help you stay motivated to tackle your challenge.

As the month is about ending, there is the need for you to know the numbers you’re closing the month with. This is something that should be done every month so you can understand the financial standing of your business. You don’t want to wait till the end of the year to work through 12 months of accounting in one sitting.

Nigeria is a unique environment for business, there are factors that business owners have to deal with in order to succeed, power, transportation, etc. Hence, you must review your monthly business expenses. As you do your accounting keep an eye out for any expenses that may no longer be necessary. Monthly accounting will help ensure your business is streamlined with no unnecessary expenses.

If you have employees make sure that you check in with them at the end of the month. This is a good time to go over their goals and tasks and discuss progress. If they have not achieved the goals for the month take the time to understand why and how you can support them to ensure that they can get the tasks completed the following month.

Work aside, find out how they are doing on a personal level. Are they enjoying their time with you?

This is also the right time to schedule all of your social media content for the next month. This will ensure that you are consistently posting to your channels and that you don’t struggle to stay connected with your followers or online community.
