OPay, Nigeria’s leading mobile financial services platform, has rolled out an engaging new campaign aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through safer digital transactions. Branded as the My OPay Security Vote Challenge, the initiative launched in early August 2025 and is fast becoming one of the most innovative digital-safety drives of the year.
Elevating Digital Security for SMEs
The campaign’s core mission is simple but powerful: educate users—especially small business owners—about the seven robust in-app security features built into OPay. These include:
- Scam Alert
- Night Guard
- Large Transaction Shield
- Online Subscription Control
- USSD Lock
- Large Transaction Double Check
- Emergency Lock
Each feature caters to everyday challenges faced by SMEs, from preventing accidental billing and subscription leaks to fending off fraudulent transactions.

OPay is taking a fun, creative route to help SMEs learn. Users are invited to produce 30-second videos showcasing their favourite security tool, explaining how it helps protect their money and share it with the hashtag #MyOPaySecurityVoteChallenge while tagging OPay’s social handles.
Beyond the online buzz, the campaign extends into community activations across urban and rural hubs, ensuring the message reaches diverse entrepreneurs throughout Nigeria. Real-time updates through OPay’s app and social channels fuel engagement.
OPay will celebrate over 2,000 participants, awarding them more than ₦10 million in weekly rewards, along with exclusive branded swag. It’s one of the most far-reaching digital safety awareness programmes launched in Nigeria this year.
Why It Matters to SMEs
For micro-entrepreneurs juggling tight margins, security lapses can be costly. Tools like Large Transaction Shield, Emergency Lock, and Scam Alert deliver practical protection, helping businesses avoid unauthorized access, fraudulent charges, or subscription waste. This initiative is more than a marketing push, it’s a step toward building trust and resilience in the nation’s SME ecosystem.
At its heart, the My OPay Security Vote Challenge is about empowering real people, shop owners, freelancers, artisans who rely on digital payments to run their dreams. By turning digital safety into a celebration of creativity, OPay is not just defending wallets, but also uplifting the spirit of entrepreneurship across Nigeria.
