The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has charged new graduates of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) to use the skills they have acquired in the course of their studies in bringing about a change to the world.

The Osun State Governor gave this charge during his speech at the 10th convocation of the university on Tuesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

Oyetola stated that the charge became necessary because the institution has equipped them with the needed entrepreneurial skills in addition to their courses of study to compete in the knowledge and technology driven world.

The governor also added that the graduates have been equipped to be solutions to the pervasive web of unemployment, economic downturn, violence and misery.

He also noted that their convocation has offered them the requisite key to employ the character, analytical skills and competencies that the institution has imbued them to partake in the task of positively impacting their lives and the society at large.

The Visitor to University who hinted that the UNIOSUN brand and the ỌMỌLÚÀBÍ ethos have been blended and carefully ingrained in them urged them to unleash the entrepreneurial skills on the world by looking inward and being self-reliant.

“You must join the corps of young entrepreneurs who are revolutionising the world economy by owning enterprises and creating jobs.

“Throughout your stay as students of this Institution, you have been accorded the rare opportunity of graduating with two certificates: a certificate for your course of study and a certificate for your chosen vocation of study,” he said.

While calling on the university management to continue rallying the university community to cultivate the alumni to be useful contributors to the building of the institution of their dream, Governor Oyetola stressed that alumni are the strength of academic institutions world over and making them competitive is the debt they owe their Alma Mata.
